I had to recently reinstall my operating system (Win XP Pro) and it was a clean install.

I have everything working except for this. i am missing something called "PROset" it used to be an icon in the bottom system tray and also in programs. (Before i reinstalled operating system) But my drivers CD doesn't have it.

i installed the driver for it, but i am missing this one thing for it to work properly.

i have an older dell computer, i am not using it now and can't go back and forth to get specs or scans.

Device manager shows everything is fine and working.

When i go to install my internet providers CD, my connection is already connected?!?!?! i cannot delete it and when i disable it nothing happens either. I can disconnect the phone line and still says connected. Which can't be.

the card & CD & driver & DSL all work, i am missing this program. PROset or something.

i used to have it in my system tray & in programs. It was its own interface apart from the driver installation file.

    Can anyone help? Thank you

    Greetings, kevin333777.

Maybe try uninstalling/reinstalling the PROset software?
You say your drivers CD doesn't have it, so I'm assuming it wasn't originally installed by Dell - did you get the software from Intel?

Thats the thing i don't have the PROset program. i have the driver setup, but when i got it it had to be brought back in because of this PROset program that wasn't installed on it.

It didn't work right without this "PROset" program that i saw in system tray when computer was on, and in programs.

After you install drivers you don't see them in system tray or in programs.

But for this it does. This is what i need, but i do not know where to download from, or the name of it. i only find "Wireless" PROset programs not the DSL type.

    i just am lost.

The download listed here should contain both the drivers and the management software, but, as you stated, it appears to be for wireless.

The only thing I can think of is to somehow get your Dell Service Tag # - with that, we may be able to find any legacy software for your machine.

Where would i find my Dell tag #?

There is usually a sticker on the case with the Service Tag #. It'll be alpha-numeric, such as "J2JSS11".

If not, then it may be on the Control Panel > System Properties page.

the service tag #, do you mean after i sent computer back to dell?

Because i never sent it to dell, it was to the store near me where i had brought it back too. So unless the number is from something else, there woulnd`t be one.

No, the Service Tag # number is a Dell-specific identifier for your machine, and is used for finding the correct downloads from the Dell site - the number should be on a Dell sticker, usually close to the Windows Product Key sticker.

If the sticker is missing, then the Service Tag # should display on the System Properties page. If not, then what is the model # of the machine (Dimension 520, XPS 300, etc.)?

So it won't matter that previously i had PROset utility?

I don't know. I don't understand where the PROset utility came from. Did you install the utility?
If it's an OEM thing, then it would seem logical that the utility would be installed with the original software for your machine.
The possibility exists that if you load the OEM drivers and software, then you may not need the PROset utility.
If, however, it's something that was added later, but is needed for internet access, then we'll have to research further.

Are you sure the program is not PRONet?
