New to the site, I just lost my computer so I got this one from a friend, have not reallt had a chance to really see what it is. it is 900mhz emachine t1090 with a intel 82810. I am having the worst problems with playing games, because of the graphic compression error dxt1 and dxt3 compatiablity thing.

The game I wanted to play is the old lords of the realm III, but this is the new verison alot better graphics than the old one, great game though, anyway. how can I fix this, there is an on board 3d chip on board all lastest drivers are install, but no go. should I disable the on board agp and use my other pci video card 32 meg s3 virge. I know it works. just unill I get the other computer up and running..

    Thanks Timber

i used to run return to castle wolfenstein with the same chipset albeit with a faster processor and it ran fine ... but id suggest the PCI card because the integrated graphics eats up system memory and that is no good ... and make sure you have direct X 8.1 or higher and that your video card is DX 8.1 compatible it sounds old so it may not be and LOTR3 needs DX8.1 ... also your system is nearly the bare minimum LOTR3 needs to run, so make sure you set everything to the lowest settings possible

also i dont know where you got your drivers but i would recommend getting your graphics driver from the intel site:
    http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/filter_results.asp?strOSs=45&strTypes=DRV%2CARC&ProductID=798&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Home+Edition&submit=Go%21

i have a compaq with the same chipset and found using the intel driver much better than the one that i find at compaqs site, well which is now hewlett packards site

doing a bit of searching im doubting that your card(S3 Virge) is DX8.1 compatible ... your intel 82810 is

The chipset i am using for this is a intel 82810 and it is a agp 3d onboard but it still has the error compability error, compression texture, I gues this games uses dxt1 and dxt3.. as far as the pci card it works but not for the game same error...and I am running dx9.0b with the 82810 chipset it show all the fuctions are fine passes all the tests.. maybe i will try it on the wifes computer, she'll kill me if she found I put a game on here computer,,lol it a way to find out it works....hers is alot newer system,,p4 2.4 512 ect

hm ... did you try going into the settings start>programs>impression games>lord of the realm 3>lord of the realm 3 configuration

it should look like this: if you do this and it doesn't work im thinking you're computer can't handle the game

hm ... yea i had a problem opening it while playing winamp ... i think there was some conflict with the visualization program i was using(milk drop) ... dont know if that helps you ... so you may want to look in the task manager and see what you have running

how much RAM do you have? if you are running XP and do not have 256MB you do not meet the minimum specs ... even so given that you have integrated video your PC may not be able to run it ... if you do have 256MB of RAM you may try closing ALL uneeded apps ... including firewalls etc ... that might help ... if you really want to get down and dirty you might try www.blackviper.com as he has a great tut on disabling services you may not need ... but the minimum specs require a 800MHz Pentium 3 while you have a 900MHz celeron .. and that is a server chip and not designed to run games ... so it may be that your rig just isnt powerful enough to handle it ... a simple graphics card upgrade or RAM upgrade may fix the problem but with your CPU id suggest getting a new computer altogether

ok ... i tried to install it on my old computer (the one with the same chipset) as soon as i inserted the CD i got this message saying: 4) we could not detect DXT compression support on this systems video card. Lords 3 requires DXT compression etc etc ,,,, I would have to guess that it just won't work unless you get one of the following video cards:

    C. Supported Video Cards
LORDS OF THE REALM III has been tested and optimized to run on the following video cards.
    1. ATI Technologies:
    -Radeon 7500
    -Radeon 8500
    -Radeon 9000
    -Radeon 9100
    -Radeon 9200
    -Radeon 9500
    -Radeon 9600
    -Radeon 9700
    -Radeon 9800
    2. NVIDIA:
    -All GeForce class cards.
    3. Matrox(R):
    -Parhelia(TM)

i wouldn't recommend the matrox though
