interactive logon process initialization has failed

hi im new to all this computer stuff so please forgive me if i sound dumb and ask silly questions....i get this message on my hp pavilion dv6000 laptop:interactive logon process initialization has failed....i have tried system recovery,and every other way (except clean install) to fix this but nothing is working. i have tried to insert a windows 7 disc an install a fresh windows but it does nothing. when i click f8 an do recovery it asks for a admin password an i have never put 1 on so cant recover with f8....im ready to throw it out the window unless someone can help please....operating system was vista but i upgraded to 7....any help is appreciated thanks
