"what if they proved it" my mistake,if your gonna ask how I have no idea its a hypothetical question, what if the experiences you and other people have had for example can be identified as not paramormal and be treated ect.

I think many people need a point to there existence and will look anywhere for a reason,if people think theres no point to life without an afterlife as you stated the mind can be opened up incredibly to suggestion, ofcourse I'm saying that is your case.

I agree with you to a certain extent since I think that is the basis for a lot of religions and the reason so many have faith...justifying their existence. Before anyone jumps on me for that comment, I am Not saying religion isn't real.

However, I do Not think you can say that the reason people experience some of these paranormal events first hand has anything to do with justifying existence. That comment doesn't even make any sense. There's a difference between taking something at face value based on faith and experiencing it.

All you skeptics out there, are you sure that the life you are living right now is the only reality?

I have experienced an alternate reality and believe me it more real than what we here on earth live each day.

The difference between you non-believers and I is simply that I do not need anybody to prove to me that an afterlife exists as I have experienced it first hand. You obviously need to listen to others to form your opinioins, which is not a very reliable method of confirmation and lacks somewhat in the intelligence stakes. rolleyes

Mr Grumbles you make some interesting observations, but if you follow your logic; that you are right and the rest are wrong..........You have a fatal flaw in you theory.....IF and that is a big if, your theory is correct, and only a few people have experienced this; what would be the logical reason??????confused

A good friend of mine believes that when we die, it's exactly like turning the power off to your computer, all that accumulated knowledge is goooonnne...now with a computer we can prove that that is indeed a fact. But as humans I think our own conceit won't allow us to realize that that may indeed be true for us too.

The Human Race continues to perpetrate the theory that we are the "Chosen" ones..................I find that theory hard to swallow given the mass of just this universe..........Maybe were just a simple parasite riding a Giants body...........Death is a closed gate for a logical reason.

Postulation on the possibilities is a great exercise for the Living Brain, so Thanks for the debate

It wasn't me, its' MRS Grumbles who is debating this! :)
She doesn't say that she is right and the rest are wrong. Just as others are viewing their opinions, she is giving her own opinion. ;)
You must admit though that this is a very interesting debate?

Wow, this debate is getting funny! :D

I beleive the meaning of life is to have chidren and die. From the day you are born you are dying and thats the only certainty. The only way you can exist in any way when you are dead is through the blood of your children, your lifeline sort of thing. When you die you just rot in my eyes and thats it.

As for aliens, I like to beleive theres something out there, if we find it before we kill our planet with pollution or blow it up with silly wars is another thing alltogether.

As I said before however, i do beleive there is something more to life than we understand. As they say most of our brain is not yet understood. What does it do? Its not just there to make our heads the right shape now is it?

You will have to consult the MG psychic to find the answer to that. LOL

Excellent point there; I believe that you should start a new thread on that one?

If we are using only 15% of our brain just now (in my case only 2% :D), just think what we can achieve if we could find out what the other 85% does?
I can't begin to imagine :strong

An individual, or society will sustain various paradigm shifts, concordantly with whatever axioms held by that society, or said individual. It may be a juxtaposition to scientific paradigms, or semi, and/or fully autonomously of formal logic and scientific ideas.

Scientific principles don't necessarily preclude philosophical, religious, metaphysical, or ethical frameworks, but rather add to such frameworks, or points of reference.

The convoluted paradoxical augment that no proof somehow provides proof or denial any said theory is not a rational stance, either for pro or con, of any theory or abductive reasoning.

The Nihilistic p.o.v. can be that there are no sentient reasoning for our existence, or purpose, and that furthermore, since the Universe is essentially an imbalance of forces, whose sum total equals zero, we therefore come to the inevitable conclusion that we, and our universe dose not exist.(As in Zen Philosophy).

One can argue that reasons for existence is simply a human condition. But such a presupposition also denies our humanity. Therefore each individual must attach whatever human reasoning and attributes to his or her life and existence. Be it for reproductive purposes, evolution of self and society, or other, more esoterical concepts.

I committed suicide and I saw jesus and God (jesus was on the left sitting on a smaller gold throne and god was on a bigger throne on the right ) siting next to each other, floating in the left corner of the room, then i looked down to the bottom right side of the room and i saw these fire creatures (they looked like men on fire, coming out of a hole) and I got really scared and I laid back down on the bed, not wanting to see any more, then I felt like my life was going away , like i was passing out ( that's when I saw a white cross in my vision-even with my eyes closed ) and I could feel my life returning to me, this happed a couple of times, until i felt strong, then something lifted me off the bed, and made me look around the room.
I saw white light come from the throne (god) in particular and go to the right then down straight to the fire men that were running up the tunnel trying to get to me, when the light hit them , they immediately turned around and ran back, then after a couple of seconds more of them marched up from the pit, and tried to get me, then more light came from the throne and when to the right then down to them and hit them then they immediately turned around and went back where they came from, this happened about 3-4 times until all of a sudden light entered my chest and i felt very strong and i could no longer see what i could see before, then i just left the room.
This happened after I took a bunch of downers, ( enough to kill a horse ) and I didn't even go to sleep after I took them, And I swear this is what happened to me.

The only thing I can think of, is it wasn't my time to go, and God has more plans for my life.
So I believe in God and Jesus, and Hell.

    Mellow.

I've had a few powerful cases of Deja Vu... scenes from dreams appearing later on in real life.

They were convincing enough to spook me out for a second, but not enough for me to believe that there was no chance it was just coincidence, or that someone could have control over it.

I believe in psychic stuff to an extent. I don't bother with guys on TV because chances are they're fake. I don't think psychics can just walk up to someone and tell them bits and pieces of this and that.

I think I'm slightly psychic. I have dreams of things that happen anywhere from the next day to another month in the future, but I don't realize I've dreampt it until it actually happens. I experience deja vu often, and most of the time when it happens I realize that I had a dream that this would happen some time ago. None of these events are life-changing or otherwise drastic, just subtle things that can be anywhere from a few seconds to a couple minutes. As I experience it I tend to know what's going to happen next, but I haven't spooked anyone yet. Sure, this is an after-the-fact thing, but it would be much cooler if I could remember the dreams so that I'd be aware of the upcoming situations.

I do believe in some sort of hypnotism (probably introducing a completely different topic here), at least a trance type of thing. My substitute high school conductor (also the primary conductor at another school) would do some sort of short thing every so often, usually explaining general characteristics about someone he'd never been around long enough to know anything about (and was almost always right) or just talking about the art of hypnotism or trance-like activities. Just him talking tended to relax people because of his voice, and the stuff he did and talked about was pretty interesting. I actually bought a (/the?) book he wrote and read through it. Pretty cool stuff he talks about.
A couple friends and I have individually put ourselves into trances before much like a hypnotist would do his work on someone (relaxing, counting down, that sort of thing), and it often turns out refreshing and relaxing. I think hypnotism with another person works in a similar way, but as for the comical acts and whatnot...I haven't been bold enough to attempt experiencing that yet to confirm it. I think it could work, though.

Up until age 60 I had never seen a ghost. Then we moved into an old farmhouse built in 1928. One morning I was in the kitchen and my husband was asleep on the sofa. It was before daylight and I saw a woman with long blonde hair walk over to the sofa and look down at him and then walk to the back of the house .

Such a wide range of opinions and experiences since I posted the above question :)
It is very interesting to read that some of the MG's have had actual experiences too.
What fascinates me, is the manner in which the sceptics and the scientific world do their level best to disprove anyones' unscientific experiences.
Yes there are a lot of fakes who claim to be able to contact the dead etc and give a bad name to the word Pyschic, but every profession has their share of "pretenders" :p

Thanks for all your input MG's :)
