I am not certain if this is in progress in other areas, but it just got rolling here in Columbia, TN and I think it's a great idea. Columbia State Community College has started a new business operated by the students that provides various computer repair, networking and "clean up" services for personal computers. They have chosen to limit it to residential but are providing these services to residents in approximately five surrounding counties. It's main purpose was to provide work/co-op opportunities to students in the CIS degree program. I attend this college on a part-time basis in the CIS program and was considering becoming a part of it, but I figure I have not completed enough of my degree program to be of any real assistance. If your curious, check this link Middle Tennessee Computer.

    Oh yeah, thats great...

A bunch of kids trying to undercut experienced professional techs who do this to feed their family.

Its like that with everything nowadays. I think alot of these "Geek Squad" type of franchises suck and are way overpriced anyway. (Geek Squad's only requirement is an A+) PC WORLD rated a bunch of those franchise types recently, and they pretty much sucked.

I myself do pro work for a discounted rate, but people are getting rediculous. For instance, I am EXTREMELY cheap with my web design, but there are people out there who are doing it for almost NOTHING!

    The computer repair business sucks!

I shoulda went to school for HVAC or something.

I know that you folks had such a positive review of the idea, so I thought I would give you an encouraging update. The business is no longer
. I was told they had problems getting students that wanted to work.

I think UT has something like that at the beginning of each semester. Don't know who operates it but I heard they just kind of cleaned your computer up for you.
