Interesting Observation For Hearing Protection

OK, got me a pair of hearing protectors that amplify ambient sound, and cut off sound above a certain decible level. Pretty cool, I can hear things like typing on a keyboard, but is shuts off with a loud noise, like a gun shot right?

Things to think about. Just racking the slide of my 1911 kicks in the noise protection. A good hand clap will kick it in.

Perhaps we deal with more noise than we should in our lives. But think about it, just loading a round in a handgun kicks in the mute, and that is not loud... Hearing loss is cumulative.

Watch what you do, be careful, and STAY OFF MY LAWN! LoL. :-D

 

Sometimes those things are set too low. Though, a clap is supposed to be loud. It's techincally a small sonic boom as the air is collapsed, so...

 

So what you're saying is if I wanted to raid your home, I would be better off making a crap load of noise, that way you wont hear a thing ? :-D

 

My point was it is interesting how many common things you are normally exposed to, that you would not think to use hearing protection. Not that I am carrying mine to the next place I expect to hear clapping.. :-D

And sure Ned, that would work perfect. I would not hear a thing. But how would you do anything if you had to keep in clapping your hands? You going to Ninja raid me with just your feet? :-D The microphone kicks back on in like half a sec.
