I'm trying to get my laptop to be able to share the music on it with my Xbox 360, I'm currently trying to disable "Password protected sharing". To do this I go to Network and Sharing Center then go down to "Password protected sharing" click the bubble next to "Turn off password protected sharing" and then hit the Apply button. When I hit the Apply button it pops up and says "Interface not registered"

And the normal way to share music and stuff is to go through the Media Center and add an Extender, but whenever I try to add the extender it's like it can't find it on the network, even though when I go to other computers and devices on the network through the network and sharing center I can see the Xbox 360 right there. I've tried opening every port that it uses, UPnP Framework ports, let it through my firewall, my router's firewall, port forwarding, I've done it all, I've even gone and turned my firewalls off and then it just started giving me an error until I turned it back on (the error not mentioning anything about my firewall)

    I'm running Vista Home Premium.

I am having the exact same problem.

Im running Vista Home Premium on my desktop and laptop.

My laptop appears to work fine seing my x360 and using Windows Media Player 11 i can stream video/music fine to it

My desktop however is a whole other story. I have the SAME problem this gentleman has. I also cannot see anything but my desktop and laptop icon in the Network window (gotten to by clicking my router icon in the Netowrk and Shawing Center window) I cannot see the xbox, i cannot see the router. I can see all of these things in the same window on my laptop.

ALSO, in the Network and Sharing Center window, when i click the words "view full map" i get a new window "Netowkr Map" but inside it only says "Windows cannot start mapping on the adapter. Please make sure the adapter is connected and enabled.", whereas on the laptop i can see the whole netwrork mapped out, my two computers, the xbox, the router, the internet icon, etc.

I have "update driver" on my LAN card, and it sais i currently up to date, ive tried restarting the "local area connection" all to no avail.

However for a QUICK fix to your problem sir, just add a password to your user account. Kinda irritating i know but.

But please, if anyone has info, please help. Ive browsed Google, Microsoft supprt, multiple forums. Cant find anything. Well i take that back. I find alot of similar problems (none exact tho), but all have no real answers.
