Hi!

I've been having serious (and highly irritating) problems with my internet that hopefully someone can help me with. A few weeks ago, I was trying to check my e-mail (yahoo) and the page wouldn't load... I figured that yahoo was down or something, but when I went to work the next day, Yahoo worked fine. I came home, and again, I couldn't get into Yahoo Mail. (also, I could get into my Yahoo Mail with my laptop while I'm home with the same internet connection but not on my desktop). I also found that I couldn't get into my ebay account (i have an ebay store) but I could get to the main page of ebay to search for things. Since that day a few weeks ago, my internet/IE has decided that certain sites are not attainable. .I can get into most of my credit card/bank accounts online, but a few credit cards I can't log into (although I can get to the main page). I can search Yahoo, but can't get into the mail. I can search ebay, but can't get into my account. I can get to the main page of Weather.com but can't get the weather for my zip code. I ran all the tests and have attached my scans, and I think that there's a virus on my computer that I can't seem to be rid of (PandaScan and BitDefender both found things that were not found by Norton Anti-virus). I've run ALL the tests on the "READ & RUN ME FIRST" page so if you have any questions, please let me know!! I did not have any problems with any of the tests. Please help! Any advice would do as I MUST be able to access my ebay/Yahoo accounts soon!

Uninstall the following programs:
BearShare <<== Comes bundled with spyware, even the paid version.
Logitech Desktop Messenger <<== Unneccssary and displays targeted ads on your computer.

Run HijackThis. Click the 'Do a system scan only' button. Place a checkmark in the box next to the following lines:
Click on the 'Fix checked' button. Wait for HijackThis to finish; close HijackThis.

There should be nothing in the Internet Explorer Trusted Zone. Remove the following items from the IE Trusted Zone:
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.ebay.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://download.windowsupdate.com

Reboot to Safe Mode

Delete the following:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\Utilities\1dxb2game125.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\Utilities\51556.exe
c:\windows\ss3unstl.exe

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Start Menu\Programs\SideStep

Reboot to Normal Mode

Your logs give no other indiications that you are infected. Have you checked to make sure that Norton is not blocking these. This sounds like a firewall/AV issue with Norton.

Hi!

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, my internet is still working properly. But now, I'm able to get into my Yahoo Mail, view my Inbox, but not open any messages. I've tried in Normal and Safe Mode, with and without Norton running, in IE and Netscape and still I have no luck. I'm still unable to get into certain credit card accounts and searching ebay and logging into my account is not happening. Since I've run all the other tests, fixed everything there was to be fixed, do you have any suggestions as to what I should try next? Are there any other tests that would target such a problem? Please let me know as I'm about to throw my computer out of the window!

Thanks!

And... one more thing I have forgotten. I am unable to go into Microsoft.com and ask for updates for my computer. I get an error that says Error 0x80072EE2.. I've followed their instructions for fixing this, but nothing happens. Also, when I run Norton System Check, I am told that I have missing Program files which I didn't have a few days ago... all having to do with "Missing File. 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\..." and a list of 10 files but I can't seem to fix the problems. Any advice?

Run the commnad sfc /scannow.

To do this simply go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:
sfc /scannow

Reinstall .Net

Thank you for helping me with that one. Unfortunately, I'm still having my internet problem. And I still am unable to update any Microsoft Product (both the windows update on the website and Windows Defender are unable to run because of an error that says 0x80072ee2... which I've gone to Microsoft and tried all their fixing things for this and nothing has happened). Any ideas about the internet issues - where it opens some pages and others are just unattainable? Do you think that a partial recovery for Windows would help? Or maybe I should just start all over? Any advice would be great - thanks!

Disable our Firewall and turn on the Windows Firewall. What does that do>

Disable "our" firewall? Do me and you have a firewall?

:)

I have UNINSTALLED norton completely to see what would happen but with no promising effects (except that my computer runs faster). I have tried to work on the internet with the Windows Firewall On and Off, both with the same results. I am still unable to check e-mail, search on ebay, go to certain credit card sites, and now I am unable to UPDATE Windows. Basically, all the sites I visit MOSt often dont' work. Any thoughts?

Any information you might have would be great! It's getting to the point where not only is my computer attacking my internet usage, but it's starting to shut down programs as well. There's going to be a reinstall of Windows soon since I'm so irritated with this.

Any help would be great !
Thanks!!

THere is nothing in your logs to lead me to believe that malware is teh cause of your problems. The only thing left is to look for the presense of a RootKit.

Download Blacklight Beta from here:
http://www.f-secure.com/blacklight/try.shtml
• Hit I accept. It will take you to download page.
• Download blbeta.exe and save it to the Desktop.
• Once saved... double click blbeta.exe to install the program.
• Click accept agreement and Click scan
This app too may fire off a warning from antivirus. Let the driver load.
Wait for it to finish.
• If it displays any items...don't do anything with them yet. Just hit exit (close)
• It will drop a log on Desktop that starts with fsbl....big number
Please post contents of log.

Hi!

I ran this test but it didn't seem to find any errors... I HATE not knowing what's actually wrong with my computer! I've posted the log below... Any other ideas?

All the logs to this point are clean. There is nothing here that makes me believe this is malware realated. This looks like a software issue. You may want to post this problem in the Software Forum.
