    Hello and Welcome to Majorgeeks!

    A few questions to start:

Does this happen all the time or just when you are using a high bandwidth?

Are you connected to the router wirelessly or using a wire? If so can you move it to a different port on the router?

Just to confirm, have you tested all the other computers?

Have you tried turning the computer and the router off and on again?

thanks for replying have tested all the computers they're fine. It only happens when i am using a high bandwidth and it is wired. Have tried to use a different port. Just happens on this computer. Have reinstalled driver, put in a different networking card, released and renewed ip address. I am at a loss. I did unplug router and restarted and turned on the computer and restarted.

Can you test with a different network cable? Just in case something has damaged a connector or cable.

OK. Was the computer on when the power went out? How many times was it forcibly shut down by power loss?

This is looking more like a problem with Windows. Have you tried running a chkdsk?

Yeah it was shut down 3 times, this is my wifes computer and i didn't know it was doing that until she stated to complain about it. No i haven't tried to run that yet, but will do know.

Is your wife sure that this was only happening after the power outages? It might be that it was happening before but she only noticed it now due to the power outages.

Another check you can make is sfc /scannow to check & repair windows files.

tried sfc /scannow didn't do the trick, but I was sure hoping it would work. Any other ideas?
