What operating system are you running?

    What router/modem do you have?

How are you connected to said modem/router?

Okay, please go to start --> (settings -->) control panel --> network connections.

() = may not need to do

There you will see a connection entitled "local area connection" (or similar). Please right-click on this and then choose "disable". then repeat, but disable should have been replaced with "enable". Do this and then try to connect again.

okay then, go to start --> all programs/applications --> accessories --> command prompt

    Then type: ping www.google.com

please post back if you get a response; it will say "response from www.google.com: [ranom stuff we don't need]) or it will say "unable to contact" or "unable to connect to" or something similar.
