internet connections

Hi everyone. I have 2 puters connected to an external modem (dsl) both use xp both have been running great until lately, both puters are clearly online, but one will not load web page. it states "status in connected." I tried to use firefox and internet explorer, both will not load. i have checked all the settings, nothing has changed. What is going on? can anyone help me once again?

have you tried reseting your router/modem? press and hold the reset button, there's usually some indication that the device has reset, I.E. the lights all blink simultaniously and then come on one at a time or something similar.

If you can't find the reset button, unplugging the power supply and leaving it unplugged for about 30 sec(long enough for any residual charge to dissipate and the capacitors to discharge) and then plugging it back in will usually suffice to reset it.

Also, i'd suggest calling your dsl providers tech support line. they can connect to your router/modem directly and insure that nothing is amiss in your modem/router's settings.

Bogus, I guess I will call support, the one computer still will not load up the web page, I have checked all internet settings and nothing has changed. I am confused.

 

Hi Bogus, I was looking at all my settings and one thing had changed, my antivirus, has a firewall, that I have never used, it was enabled, sooooo I had 2 firewalls running!! lol no wonder, turned one off and I am up an running. Thanks for all the help
