I recently reformatted a friends hard drive, reinstalled M$ XP, and also reinstalled the Yahoo SBC DSL software. Everything is working great except for her internet service. After about 10 minutes of internet inactivity she loses her connectivity. The only way to regain connectivity is to restart her computer. I am not sure what is going on, her IP CONFIG info looks good, and her modem configuration looks good (unless I am just missing something). Does anybody have any idea as to what may be going on?

Might be the SBC DSL software not capable to keep authenticaton On.

If the DSl is PPPOE I would suggest to use a Cable/DSL Router even if it is a single computer.

    Here why, http://www.ezlan.net/PPPOE.html

Is it connected via USB ?

If so, you could check in Device Manager under USB Root Hubs to see if the box is checked where it says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

Or, still in Device Manager, if the router or Modem is shown, have a look in Properties, under Power Management, and see if the box is checked that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

Thanks for the input, I am going to try these ideas today.
