I have been experiencing strange behavior with my computer. I have windows 98 se with IE6. I noticed that certain links on web pages will not open and popups are appearing as about:blank. When I click on the spyware tools on this site to download them just a blank window appears and nothing happens. I also went to download win98 updates because I reinstalled my OS to see if that would fix it and the download just freezes and won't start. I uninstalled my Norton antivirus thinking it was causing the problem and there was no change. I reinstalled Norton AV and got a strange message- Microsoft Visual C++ Library-Runtime Error-C:\common files\symantec shared\script blocking\sbserve.exe-this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way-please contact the application support team for more nformation. I've run AdAware SE, Spybot, spyware blaster, and Norton, and keep everything updated. All programs reported no problems. I believe that I may have a corrupt file or some setting has changed. I upgraded a software program and got the blue screen of death the other day and noticed all my icons in my favorites were changed to the plain "e". Any advice would be appreciated

Found the fix at microsoft. Downloaded and ran mcrepair.exe. Everything seems to be working OK now. A file must have been corrupted like oleaut32.dll.
