How do I get Internet Explorer8 to display its webpage? http://uk.msn.com/ When it comes up I get Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. and some things to try. Tried to do all that Nothing. (I am older and not techie minded I do know how to switch it on though.) The toolbars at the top of page are visable tho If I type an address or click on anything in my favourites it will open and work normally Any advice please prefereably step by step or laymans terms except go to Firefox or any others. :confused I dont think its IE* its something else had a little bit on help from another but they gave up when everything they said to try came back as ok.

    Try running the following tool:

Run the application, it will restart your computer, then try opening Internet Explorer.

    Hi

Does this happen only on this one site or others? (just asking this even though you have posted on this forum ok, as it may not be the PC in question with the issue, so double checking)

Start IE in its safe mode, click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and you should see Internet Explorer (no-addons) run that and can you get to the site in question?

If you boot into Safe Mode with Networking can you connect ok (Safe Mode is F8 at boot)?

You do seem to have a few too many security apps and these can cause connection issues, Avira and IOBit are doing the same job and if Malwarebytes is the full retail version then it too is live scanning, so remove IOBit and Malwarebytes (if retail resident scanning one) to test.

If WinSock fix doesnt work also try this as it could be a DNS thing, download and run CCleaner and run its cleaner and registry cleaner tools, then close all browser windows open a command prompt (start > run and type cmd and hit enter) then at the prompt type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter.
