Internet Explorer 8 Windows 7 Hyperlinks

Im gonna try and explain this the best i can no hyperlinks open in IE 8 but they open just fine in Chrome and Mozilla. I have already went into internet options and reset and apply that did nothing and im unable to reload or redownload IE 8 for some reason. Not sure if this helps but when when I click on a link in a email (gmail) its shows a error in the lower left of screen. I hope i have given enough info.

In earlier versions of Windows/IE this was usually fixed by entering the following command in a command window -

regsvr32 urlmon.dll > Enter

You may need to open cmd with elevated privileges. I would also close IE and log off/on again.

Hi

Would you by any chnace have chanced IE8 from being the default Browser application? if so then try resetting IE8 back as the default (this may stop Chrome from opening them now, cannot have it all ways sadly) to do this click Start and in the Start Run box type default and at the top of the search list will be default programs click that.

Then click Set your Default Programs > choose Internet Explorer and click Set this Program as Default, thne click OK, reboot and try again.

If the above doesnt work a batch file from fellow Microsoft MVP Kai Schätzl HERE should. (and get the ie8-rereg.all.zip file) do read the usage of this file.

But basics are it will re-register all the known dlls for IE8, and to use it download the file, unzip and you will see 3 files, right click and choose Run as Administrator on the IE8rereg file, it may take a short while to finish.
