I reinstalled windows cuz I thought that would fix my problem. But It still crashes, I have tried to install mcafee on this thing and it has major problems. I am not sure what to do. Things are closing on me all the time, mcafee crashed when I was installing it. Can someone please help me, I had lots of problems before and came here for help and just gave up and formatted but that fixed some of the problems but not this one.

Your title says "internet explorer crashes". The description of your problem would indicate a system problem. Which is it? What OS, computer specs, etc.?
More information is needed here before anyone can help.

    Hi

If it crashes also the exact error messages will help us help you, also when you re-installed did you install all of the drivers? (tell tale sign is yellow ! marks in Device Manager if they have not)

as well as OS what Service Pack is it as some fixes may need or be in specific Service Packs? to find this click Start > Run and type winver and hit enter, if Vista or Win7 then just type winver into the Start Search box and hit enter.

Do the crashes still happen in Safe Mode?

Please name all the security applications/software you have installed?

As BrandyP mentions do give us as much info as you can, as what apps are affected are they all of them or just some, any error messages etc even a Step by Step is good, so say its I click this to open Internet Exploerer and immediately it gives an error of xxxxxxxx

I am running window xp pro, sp3.
    pentium 4 cpu 2.40 GHZ
    2.30 GHz 1.00 GB ram
    internet explorer version 6.

I do not have any question marks in device manager,
I only have 2 X's beside the two ethernet cards I disabled
because I installed a wireless connection, But I had
this problem before I put that in the computer.

Also I do not have any virus scanner on here, I had put in
one but it didnt work, so I tried to install
mcafee but that one wont work either, I deleted both of
    them.

this is the error I got when I tried to go
    into device manager

    Microsoft Management Console has encountered
a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
    for the inconvenience.

one of the crashes in internet explorer says,

Internet explorer has encountered a problem with
an add-on and needs to close.

The following add-on was running when this problem occured
    flash 10d.ocx
    adobe systems incorp
    adobe flash player

then I got another one that said
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I had this problem before I installed adobe.

    I hope this helps.

So you are getting both system and browser crashes? Halo asked about safe mode, does it still crash there.

No anti-virus? Can't install one? Before you spend time on a repair, I'd suggest you run the READ AND RUN ME FIRST,
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

Many times you will be able to get the necessary scanners in safe mode with networking, or you can use a portable device from a different computer.

Also, if you can get to the safe mode, run IE with no add-ons, (start, accessories, system tools, internet explorer no add-on).

There are system/browser fixes that could be done, but I think you should first see if your machine is infected.

I cannot get into safe mode, I have tried and tried, I even constantly hit f8 repeatedly but I cannot get into safe mode for some reason, I will run the read and run me first and let you know what happens, thankyou for your help so far.

I keep getting an error in mgtools. I installed the .net thing but that didnt help, the error i get is

    ---------------------------
ProcessDll.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services
    ---------------------------
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

    Process id=0xed4 (3796), Thread id=0xed8 (3800).

Click OK to terminate the application.
Click CANCEL to debug the application.
    ---------------------------
    OK Cancel
    ---------------------------

Also, when I opened internet explorer it said,

internet explorer is currently not your default browser. Would you
like to make it your default browser?

this is the only browser I have on here, and when I am loading windows I see two options for windows, but it goes by so fast I am not sure what the two options are and I can't click on anything, It just boots to windows.

    Fire,
You need to start a thread and post these in the Malware Removal section. This section is for software issues. It may take a day or more for somebody to take your case then, due to the backload.
Post back here when you've been given the all clean, if you are having problems still.
    Best of Luck!:)

Im sorry I misunderstood what I was asked to do, I thought I was told to do the read and run me first to make sure my system was clean. Please disregard those attachments, as nothing was found anyways.

You should get rid of messenger with this:
    http://majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=2327&file=15&evp=407844d9f4a1d230eda60d32e2d153e8

Your combo fix did indicate some problems. Can you boot into sage mode now?

I would also get rid or all toolbars and upgrade your IE to 8, but when doing so, chose the custom installation and decline or say no to all of the options you are given. IE6 is vulnerable.

If you can post a list of your autorun programs, you could get more help.

Also, download and run dialafix. Check all the tabs.

Very bad idea. Until he can get his computer stable, upgrading something just adds another layer of problems into the mix.
We need to get his MS Management Console stable and remove any flash remnants so this error "flash 10d.ocx" isn't showing up.

I suspect the remnants of McAfee need to be scaped off otherwise no av will install.

After all that, the first thing will be installing an av, then upgrading the browser.

First, please explain how you reinstalled windows.

well unfortunately I already installed IE8, but when I installed windows xp, i did a full format in the options before installing windows. I did this because when I got this computer it already had this problem and things just got worse from there, supposely I got this from a computer programmer who should know what he is doing??

Ah, so there might be hardware problems contributing to your problems. Just because someone has the skills to write computer programs, do not assume that person can fix computers. The two do not necessarily go together.
A full format and a clean install should have eliminated any software errors.
