Internet Explorer doesn't open

I reviewed similar threads, but didn't find a tangible solution.

I recently did Windows Update and it had me update IE.

Now, when I click the icon, the program won't load.

Any ideas what might be going on?

 

Can you uninstall the most recent update? That might take care of it.

 

I don't think I can, it's not in my Add/Remove Programs list.

I had also tried uninstalling IE and reinstalling it, and it didn't work.

So my guess is it IS that update thats the problem, but I can't find where to remove it.

It's called Update for Windows Internet Explorer 8 (KB968220), I think.

Hmmm, it should show up in add/remove programs in XP. The update will be there and after you uninstall that, then you will see Internet Explorer 8 for uninstall. I have XP Media Center and that's how I got rid of it on mine.

Yeah, I can see SOME updates in Add/Remove, but not that one!

I used it and it reverted me back to IE7, which works.

So that works for me!
