OK.... this is on a Dell with XP Home SP2. I was looking around and couldn't find Internet Explorer listed anywhere; not in All Programs, not in the Start Menu; and in Program Files, the Internet Explorer folder does NOT have IEXPLORE.EXE. It's just gone. I did a search for IEXPLORE and it found it several places, but none of 'em do anything; when clicked on, nothing happens, no error, no windows open, nothing. I did a safe repair install, and still no IEXPLORE.... what's up with that?

Problem solved.... :p I used the Tools option in Dial-A-Fix, then used the Repair/Reinstall IE option from there. Worked like a charm! :major

You could earn lots of cash if you discover how the person removed IE. Many people want to do this and can't figure out how. :-D
Get ready to sell the info to interested parties.

roflmao LOL Too bad the owner of the PC can barely turn it on! However it happened, it was totally accidental. The weird thing was that I had to use a 3rd party app to re-install it! I even did a repair install from a factory XP disc and that didn't do it.... the main reason I installed it was because he uses MSN dialup, and without IE, it didn't seem to do anything. The main 'sign in' page would open, you'd select the user, click 'sign in' and the window would close, and that was it. No errors, nothing. As soon as IE was back, you'd click 'sign in' and the modem would start dialing, and about 43 minutes later, you were on line. ;)

(just kidding! Dialup is slow tho')

Yeah, that works for installing Windows, but doesn't do anything for you if you're already up and running.

I was having problems with I.E6 crashing on me all the time and was looking for a way to reinstall it and found this. I know its too late to try it and the chances of you running into the same problem are slim but if your like me you like to have a folder full of fixes at your disposal.

    Code:
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x Repair for Windows XP

    =================================================================
From the Start menu, select Search, select All Files and Folders.

Select More Advanced Options and place a checkmark beside Search Hidden Files and Folders option.

Ensure that Search System Folders and Search Subfolders are also checked.

In the All or Part of the File Name box, type ie.inf

In the Look In drop-down menu, select C: or the letter of the hard drive that contains the Windows folder.

    Click the Search button.

In the search results pane, find the ie.inf file located in Windows\Inf folder.

Right click the ie.inf file and click Install on the context menu.

Insert the XP disk if asked and or point to an sp2 folder extracted to the hard drive.

Reboot the computer when the file copy process is complete.

check the MS Update site for IE Updates

It actually fixed my problems too. And of course if you don't have to go thru all the search bull, this was obviously written for newbies, so if your client already has show hidden files and folders set you can just go to the Windows Inf folder and install from there.
