Hi - Hoping someone can help.
    Windows 2K OS
MS Explorer 6.? (can't tell right now, because I can't launch the browser!)
    Spybot
    CClean
    Ad-Aware SE
    Zone Alarm
I've run the most recent versions of Ad-Aware and Spybot which did find some issues and removed them, but I still get the "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." error message. I've read about, installed and have attempted to post Hijack This log files to this thread for your review.

Looking forward to any suggestions you may have.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Remove the alot toolbars.

    O2 - BHO: ALOT Toolbar - {5AA2BA46-9913-4dc7-9620-69AB0FA17AE7} - C:\Program Files\alot\bin\alot.dll
    O3 - Toolbar: ALOT Toolbar - {5AA2BA46-9913-4dc7-9620-69AB0FA17AE7} - C:\Program Files\alot\bin\alot.dll

    Also

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [MOSearch] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\System\MOSearch\Bin\mosearch.exe
    O9 - Extra button: Bonjour - {7F9DB11C-E358-4ca6-A83D-ACC663939424} - C:\Program Files\Bonjour\ExplorerPlugin.dll

That should fix that. If not go into control panel. Then internet options. Then Programs. Then manage addons. Disable them all then try to open IE. If it works add the items one by one (except alot toolbar) to see which one it was.

EDIT - This belongs in the malware section. This is just for fixing the IE error but you have more spyware/virus problems.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

ALOT eMusic Toolbar - is not really considered malware. If you did not install it yourself then you should definitely uninstall it. But if you did install it, just realize that it is considered questionable software.

More frequently than not, errors like you mentioned are not related to malware. However the only real way to know for sure is by having you run thru our standard cleaning procedures. Thus if you want to check for malware, continue with the below:

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    Kizon,
Thanks for your help! Once I removed the ALOT toolbars using HJT, IE began to work. Not suprisingly, once IE launched, the default web page was ALOT. I've since removed the ALOT toolbars and Bonjour using the Windows Remove/Install Programs. IE Seems to work fine now.

    Chaslang,
Thanks for your reply. I will review the "Read & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support" and will post the logs shortly.

Thanks to both of you for your help. It is greatly appreciated!

Okay but it sounds like the major part of your problem has been resolved when you removed the toolbar. It does not hurt to run thru the procedure though just to be sure that your free from other malware.
