Internet Explorer Installation Problems

I am attempting to upgrade from IE6 to IE7, downloaded the package, then went to install, I click on the 'e' icon on desktop, immediately I observe bottom left hand corner of the browser a yellow exclamation mark, which tells me something is wrong, picture load some 20 seconds later, I am presented with the blue IE7 set up preferences window, I select the first position being keep my regular browser settings, plus select the check mark below for 'phising' click save settings, and nothing it just freezes?? thus not allowing me to do anything, crazy or what? can anyone offer a solution as to what I am doing wrong?:cry
