Internet Explorer Minor Problem

When i open IE (Internet Explorer) the page starts maximised, which is great! However when i click on a link and IE opens a new window it starts with just the title bar showing all shrunk, i have tryed stretching and maximising the window before i close it and it just starts exactly the same way.... How on earth can i get links to start maximised? I know i can start then in a tab but i would prefer not.

im generally very computer literate but this is doing my head in! I normally use firefox and have no problems, no surprise there!

I remember a few threads about the same thing... seems to work after a few trys usually though.
