Internet Explorer not responding

I have two computers in the house and only one is connected to the internet at any given time.
On the first one everything runs fine.

On the second one however I have a small problem with the internet only in certain situations.

Both computers have the same anti viruses and the same tools

Advanced System Care
Game Booster
Ccleaner
MBAM
SpywareBlaster
SPybot S&D

On most of these there is a "check for updates" button or like with game booster a "would you like to go to the website" button for updated video drivers and such.

Now on computer 1 I can click these and it takes me to the site mentioned.

On computer 2 I click them and the Internet Explorer screen pops up but stays blank and then after a long time says it is not responding.

This only happens when I use the check for update buttons and so forth.

My favorites on both computers pop up fine and so does clicking on links that I search for in Google.

Is there a certain thing I need checked in the IE properties? And how would I do that?

I don't have any sites blocked.

I can just look up the sites and get to them from searching but I don't understand why one computer will let me get there from check updates and the other won't.

Any help would be appreciated

I'm not a gamer and am more hardware oriented but it sounds to me there may be a problem with game booster rather than IE.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that takes care of the problem.

 

I had actually uninstalled gamebooster and downloaded the updated version and tried it again. Still does the same thing.

I have the problem also when Ccleaner tries to update when I check the "check for updates" button on it as well and wound up just searching for the site and downloading the newer version that way.

 

This should probably be up in the Software forum.
I'll see if I can get an admin/mod to move it.

It still isn't working.

I just tried to update my Nvidia graphics card and it still wouldn't do anything.

Usually when you do this it will have the nameof the website at the top of the screen but instead it just says windows internet explorer.

Also I usually get a download bar at the bottom of the screen and it has nothing.

Regular use of the internet is fine it is just when I have an update that takes me to another website that it does this.

I know this got moved to the software section but since it isn't any one software I really think it has something to do with internet explorer.

Any more help would be great

I run internet explorer 8 and it is windows XP. I forgot to mention this
