Internet Explorer wont run :(

Hi all

I am XP home SP2 with all updates.

Recently when I go to open Internet Explorer I get the following message.

Microsoft Visual C ++

Runtime error!

Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.


System restore fixed it a few times but now it happens every time.

Helppppppppp!!!


2.53 pentium
512 DDRAM
Maxtor 60 gig HD
Makers own mobo ( advent )
256 meg Radeon 9600 Pro
AC 97 sound.

I had the same problem on a couple user machines. Unistalling and reinstalling IE didn't help. My only solution was to create a new user and have the user start logging in under that context instead (the problem only existed under that single user).

If you have the Google Toolbar, uninstall it and see if that solves the problem.

Did what Solo suggested and it ran fine then came back to say thanks. Looked at what Matacumbie suggested.. did that and bingo!!!

I do try to sort things myself as I find that's the way you learn but again a big THANK YOU. My comp is important because I run 2 small businesses from it.

You should be able to reinstall the Google Toolbar and be fine.

If not, at least you know the solution now.
