internet explorer won't start

Damn... ok... now I think I have another virus, this time on my desktop... 2000 model HP Pavilion 7965 X86...
So I thought oh well..., I'll just run the malware section off MG... but I can't... I can't get internet explorer to connect so I can download and run...
I checked the lan setting for a proxy server but it isn't checked... I did a reset on IE and that didn't work... I opened in safe mode to the administrator and still can get connected.., yes, I did open safe with the internet connection mode...
One thing I noticed earlier... everytime I clicked on MSN., it seemed to take forever to open and I'd look at task manager and there would be two MSNs running... I made sure I single clicked and it still did the same thing,....
Also..., my microsoft security essentials is not working again and I think it is hijacked and shut down...,
I have malware bytes on here and can run it, but how do I know if it has been compromised?

 

Additional info... fyi... the internet connection is fine as we have 3 other computers using it... 1 hard wired and 2 wireless...

Also, if I go onto control panel and click firewall, it won't open, and if l... if I go to security, I can't open it... what ever a hole wrote this one sure did their homework... I can't open anything in safe mode and I can't download the MG malware removal tools to fix it like I did my laptop...

Oh yea... I'm not sure where I am getting this... but I am not looking at internet porn sites...

Question... could our router or wireless be infected?

BTW... even though I feel it is worthless at this pint, I ran a scan with MSE, but it showed nothing... right now I am running a scan with malwarebytes, however both were already loaded on the machine and could be comprimised. I will report back when the MB scan is complete...

I know you guys and gals are getting tired of me whining, and I will change to another anti-virus program once I clean up this mess... but I haven't worked for a year and I can't afford to purchase a real anti-virus right now... and although I can download avast, it is only free for 30 days.

Question... is there anyway I can trace the IP where this S _ _ T is coming from?

 

One more thing... why, when I do a safe mode start does it say my operating system is 'microsoft windows whistler', I know its some sort of boot program, when I have XP?

 

NOTICE: Don't worry about it... I thought it simplier and just did a complete recovery... it will take me a while now to re do everything... but I should be good to go....
