    hi all.
I am running Vista (unfortunately) with IE 8 as my browser.
Sometimes when i press a link on a page it opens the page as a tiny window and i have to press maximise.
I know that if i finish browsing in maximised window the next time i open IE it will be full size but is there any way that i can make it ALWAYS open full size and only go smaller if i want it to be smaller.
    Vey annoying.
    Cheers.

    Hi

Try the following open IE up and only have one Window and Tab open, then resize it to the size you like, then hold the CTRL or Shift key and click the File Menu and choose Exit (dont use the X) May need to press ALT to get the menus if not already viewable.

    May work for your scenario.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
    No good i'm afraid.
Every window i open from off a already open window opens in a tiny window that i have to maximise to see anything.
Then of course, any new ie window i open opens in the same state.

I also hate the way it opens groups of pages so if you choose to close a window it asks if you would like to close all of them or just this one.

This doesn't happen on my xp desktop, is it just in Vista this annoyance happens??

    Cheers

I think this is actually two separate issues.
    • make IE always open maximized
    • make new tabs open maximized

I know there is tweak for the second one, but right now I can't find it.

To handle the first, there are a couple of options.
Internet Explorer does not open maximized when you click on the short cut in the Start menu

    Damn.
    None of these things worked.
I have changed the setting in the short cut to 'open maximised', thought it had fixed it but a few clicks later we were back to normal.

mjnc I found the tabbed browsing fix in Tools>Internet Options>General>Tabs>Settings, so that should be fixed.

Just this annoying restore down/maximise thing now.
