Internet Security Suites

I have got a brand new laptop and with it came 3 months free of Norton Internet Security. It has been doing it's job brilliantly but as the trial is ending in a couple of weeks or so, I was starting to think, "What am I going to do?" I was thinking of renewing the subscription but then I thought of possibly buying Zone Alarm. What do you think I should do as I think it would be more simple to just keep Norton.

 

I am sure that with bigger and better PCs, resources are becoming plentiful, but my personal experiance has taught me that Norton (as good of a product as it is) is a resource hog. I have a Dell laptop, a home built desktop and an old HP Pavillion (none with Vista) and I use free security products on all of them. My preferences are AVG for antivirus, Ad-Aware and Windows Defender for spyware protection and ZoneAlarm for my firewall. But I have also used Sygate firewall and Spybot Search and Destroy antispyware and was not unhappy with either of them.

 

As my dad is a bit weary of getting free internet security (I don't know why) what would you recommend that costs money?

 

I have no recommendations for security products for which you must pay. I have not used them in two years. I did, however, use Norton for 2 or 3 years prior to that and was satisfied with the results but not with the effect it had on the performance of my PC. I was often annoyed by the loss of speed with which my applications and OS performed.

 

I think I'll use Zone Alarm Internet Security until F-Secure Internet Security has support for Vista.
