Internet showing as disabled *wierd*

Ok, so my router is one, the cable modem is on... one of my pc's is working on the internet. Two other PC's are not. I am sure it is on the computer side of things since I plugged them into the same connection as the working one.

I goto "view network places" the router is sending and recieving packets, but there's something weird... there is an icon for "internet" and its disabled. Nothing I do will enable it, it just goes right back to disabled.

WHY!??!!

 

Do all your PCs have your routers IP as your gateway?
Do these comps work when connected directly to the modem?

Post more info please! What OS' you are using, which browser(s), what type of router you have, what type of modem, which ISP (that's a good question, some ISPs do not like a router behind their modem), whether you have a firewall...

 

The 'Internet' icon is provided by Universal Plug and Play and allows you to make changes to the ports of the router without making them inside the router config. Its still buggy, and many router manufacturers don't implemement it right.

I've found rebooting the router re-enables it in the past, sometimes disabling UPnP in the router config and re-enabling it fixes it.

Interestingly enough, since I went to a Dlink DI-624, its stayed enabled and never gone to disabled.
