alright well i got a linksys wireless G router with speedbooster. This router has start having this problem pretty much some time after i got it.. what it does is it slows down my internet connection so that sites will load alot slower and sometimes it will even take so long that it will gimme a message saying the site is unavailable. It even at some point will loose connection and i am required to reset the router.

So it been doing this right now so i got an internet speed test done.

    Before:
    Download: 4724 Kb\s
    Upload: 99kb/s
    ping: 33ms

After unplugging and reseting the router just like 30 seconds after the first test i got these results

What is causing this? can it be solved with a new router?

P.s i forgot to take a image shot like that for the first test but it was done with the same site lol

:cry i wish i had speeds that fast!! :(

you never have to reset your modem? or is it a modem/router? is this a wireless connection? do you have security enabled on your router (if wireless)? are others connecting to your router?

edit - have you tried resetting your router, and set it back up? also, what is the model # of your router? if a wireless connection, what about your adapter? - sos

    - No i do not need to reset the modem.. its perfectly fine and it is not a router/modem. They are both seperate
    - On this computer its a wired connection. But i have other computers that are wireless using this router.. but the router does the same thing even if no one is using the other computers or even if there all off.
    - When i open the router program it says "Secured" so im going to guess it is.
    - Yes ive tried reinstalling and reseting my router up with out sucess.

and finaly model number is WRT54GS

about the speeds , here in canada 2 main companies Bell and Rogers. Rogers is absolutely Huge pretty much dominates cable/internet and telephone provider.. there internet speeds are beautiful. Dont know if there in USA.. but i know over there are alot of different companies providing internet for alot cheaper prices. :p

ok, you don't have to yell at me!! :p just trying to get some basics out of the way, alot of times people are vague, and/or do not give enough information. do you have another router you can try (for testing purposes)? what are your other adapters? are they all "g" adapters? or are they mixed? have you tried changing your router to "b/g", or "b" only, or "g" only? or have you tried disabling your wireless portion, for testing purposes only? - sos

edit - i guess you kinda answered this. can you disable your wireless portion (in your router), and see if your speed stays constant (on your wired comp)?

Repeated problem, frequently resetting router, new router, I'd say router

Your cable modem or ISP maybe having issues, have ISP test signal & modem, I've had several modem's go south, 2 within two months, I'm glad they were Comcast's

    I have Comcast cable & D-Link wireless N DIR-655, and it's Sweet... I use both wireless & RJ45 connections

    bah *kicks asus* :hyper

hehe, that's kewl. i'm all good.

i'm to cheap to pay for cable internet prices. it used to be @ $50 or so a mos, and then it was @$30 for 6 mos, then it went to regular prices. i'm content with my 20 - to now 25 for slower speed dsl. - sos
