I recently bought a LCD TV which can also be used as a computer monitor. On the back it has an ethernet port which is used to connect to the internet in order for the TV to pick up various information (I can post the model of the TV if you need it). Unfortunately my router is no where near my TV so I can't connect them together, however I have a PC right under the TV which I use as an entertainment system. The PC is wirelessly connected to the router. My question is, if I connect the ethernet port of the PC to the ethernet port of the TV will the internet be passed through to the TV?

I've heard that something like this was possible but I was also skeptical. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I am not 100% but i think it is possible the same way you connect 2 PCs with a crossover cable.
Maybe if you wait a while some one with a good knowledge of this will come along.

The way i have done it is with Devolo where i have the elctrical system in the appartment as an LAN and can connect to any power outlet and get internet, but it is not cheap.

devolo isn't very practical for me because all my computers are either laptops with wireless built on, or pc's with a wireless adapter. Thanks anyway.

It does not need to effect your PCs it is just for the TV

i understand, i just don't think its practical to purchase it just for the TV

There is 1 USB port on the TV, however I am not sure if an ethernet adapter would work in there, i believe it is only used for media, i'll have to read the manual just to make sure

I'll look into it, although it doesn't sound like something I will need. I don't even need the internet connected to the TV, I just figured since I have a PC there I might as well see if there is a way to do it through the PC, if not then it really doesn't matter.

I managed to figure it out. For those who want to know its very simple. I enabled my ethernet card then went to the properties of my wireless connection. From there I clicked the advanced tab and made sure that the "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" option was checked off. Then I simply connected my TV to my PC's ethernet port via a ethernet cable and now my TV can get weather, news, and stock reports from the internet. This method isn't limited to just connected a TV and PC together, you can even connect two PC's together and share the internet like that.
