Internet won't work

    I'm on my old machine.

I have a new PC running Vista home premium, and the internet just stopped. It did this after a windows update.

    System restore won't work.

In my devices, I am informed that the 6TO4 Adapter cannot start. Is that a possible cause?

The tech support is sending me a repair disk, and when FedEx get it here I have to phone them back and they are gonna talk me through it.

    Any ideas, anyone?

(I put this in the hardware forum because of the adapter. If anyone thinks it's more of a software issue, I'll post it there as well.)

    Thanks

This is apparently a very common problem and Microsoft is aware of it. However, they offer no fix at this time. Many people report the error without any ill effects, but not in your case :( I think you have to be patient and wait for the CD..... You can try these drivers:

http://www.soft32.com/download_175416.html (this one commonly errors out at the same time as the 6TO4)

    Thank you dlb.

By error, do you mean the 6to4 being unable to start?

I'll try the repair disk first. Darn thing is less than a month old.

Okay, the disks arrived, so I plugged my mouse and keyboard back into my new machine to try the repair install...

    And it worked:confused

I had rebooted many times, tried system restore many times, all to no avail.

I left it off for a week and used my old XP machine, and that seems to have done the trick.:confused

The 6to4 card still won't start, but I have internet access. A weeks worth of updates just installed, and I am using IE right now.

Does anyone have any idea what happened?

I should have been clearer. I didn't do the repair install. The darn thing fixed itself while I was using the other machine. That's what I'm asking when I say "Does anyone have any idea what happened?"

    Computers - temperamental stupid things!

I'd guess it was software related, file got corrupted or similar and this resulted in no connection. At least you got it working :)

Yeah, but you know, I tried system restore a few times, and that didn't work. The tech support couldn't figure it out either. That's why they sent the repair disks. I'm not complaining, though. Just confused...

Oh well:) As you say, it works now.
