Internet Works Explore does not. HELP!!!!

OK. First time poster here, and not much of a computer buff. Here is my problem.

I am at a remote computer to get this posted

I know my internet works, because my messenger works. However when i try to use my internet explorer nothing happens. It says the whole cannot find server thing. If you guys can help I would be indebted to you.

What connection are you using? Broadband with network or dial-up?

If networked > Go Internet Options > Connections > LAN-settings > make sure the 'detect settings automatically' isn't ticked.

If dial-up > Not much that could be wrong, try reaching another page... the only thing that comes to mind right now.

 

It seems that explorer is broken, like deleted. its not my connection, so maybe it shouldnt be in networking, but i didnt know where to put it. Can a person get a Explorer disk to reinstall it?
