    Hi

What information do you need to find out and what Windows version you using?

A speedtester website can help and Speedtest.net and its speed tester and ping options can help, other info can be gained from the ipconfig commands from within Windows and then you have the data many routers capture on traffic throughput and errors etc

If posting logs on the forum then do attach your log to any thread you start in the appropriate area as per these instructions HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post

I am running XP Pro. I am also using firefox. The Internet works fine for a little while, then it quits. I have run all kinds of Virus Scans and found nothing. I don't know what to do now.

Read this thread where the user loses connection after 20 minutes then has to reboot yet all other computers in the house still have internet connection.

If that isn't your situation, please provide more details.

Thanks for the reply. My problem is very very similar.

The only difference is i don't loose the connection when the computer is Idle.
I loose it in the middle of using it. I have check everything I know to check. When it looses connection mine also still shows its connected. I have gone to " start.. Connect To... Show all connections..." and repaired both the wireless connection and the Local area Connection. I have also checked the connection in the " cmd ". I know it has nothing to do with the ISP. I have Two computers on my desk the other one connects fine. I have not installed any Firewalls or programs lately. The only thing I have Downloaded is some music. I have also ran EVERY virus program, spyware program and malware program I have. :cry

I have tried to repair the connection again,

Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed:
    Renewing your IP address

For assistance, contact the person who manages your network.

I got this message after a reboot.

    Anyone have any ideas?

and are you running PCTools Firewall Plus? If so, remove it because that program was causing secretcodebreaker to lose his internet connection.

If you don't have that, you will need to look at what is running (device manager) when you lose internet connection because one of those programs might be causing the problem.

How do you connect to the internet? If a router, perhaps your lease isn't long enough. The error "can not renew your IP address" might be an indication that this is happening.

Time it to see if you consistently lose the connection after x number of minutes.

No I don't have a firewall, other than windows firewall.

I tried to check the times, but they very. Sometimes It's 30 min. and sometimes it's 6 Hours.

Seems to be the next logical step.
