My dad picked me up a new CPU/MoMo/RAM combo (P4/Intel D845GERG2) for $75 from the shop he works at, and was told that it works just fine.

When I power it up, fans spin fine, drives spin fine, but *nothing* shows up on screen. I even tried using the onboard video just in case it doesn't like the AGP slot. Any ideas on what to try?

everything seeming to work fine and no video is a classic sign of a dead CPU sorry man

I'll fire it up again later tonight (after borrowing the power supply from GF's computer) and see if it's a dead screen, or if there was anything at all... :(

Confimed. No video. Luckily, he can exchange it. Maybe he can even get me an ATX instead of the tiny MicroATX....

Hmmm.. . Hadn't thought of that... Would this require flashing the bios afterwards?

    Nothing to lose, I guess.

    Success! Somewhat....

Pulled the battery, then put it back in.
Connected both power leads to the motherboard.
    Connected power switch.

Turned it on, and got two beeps, and video!
However, video was just a cursor flashing in the upper left of a black screen.....

    -UPDATE-

    This time, I had patience...

Restartes it, and took a trip to the bathroom. Got back and the cursor had changed to "Reboot and Select proper Boot device, or Insert Boot Media in Selected Boot device."

Time to shut my working computer down, and swap cases/HD's.... :)

Put new motherboard/CPU in old case with old drives and powersupply, and now I get no video (onboard or 2 video cards). Could it be that her power supply is 550W and mine is only 350W?

The 350 watts could definately be a problem. It is on the low side. With bigger processors/HD/CD roms/ etc. They require more power and more cooling. Think about the size of the heat sinks on early units and look what there is now.
