Intuit Quickbooks 2002 Basic

My QB 2002 Basic wont open correctly, just flashes on then disappears. Was working 1 month ago. Trying to re-install from disc I get message that file: C:/windows\command.com is missing. Trying to restore to a previous restore point I get message that restore was unable to locate certain files and not completed. [no indication which files]. Windows7 home premium64.
Did download a free version of QB2010, and then un-install a week ago, without using it.
Any help??

 

Have you upgraded your version of Windows (example: XP to 7) since QB2002 worked?

I ran into an issue recently on Quicken Home & Business 2007 (same company, Intuit) where it would not run properly when reloaded onto a Windows 7 32-bit OS. Although Intuit buries this deep in their tech support pages, older versions of Quicken (and likely QuickBooks) will not work with Windows 7.

Can you say "ripoff forced upgrade", boys and girls? Sure you can. rolleyes

 

Installed when using Vista64, then up graded to Windows7, and worked perfectly the whole time. Dont know what happened to "command.com"

 

Have you tried going to CONTROL PANEL>PROGRAMS & FEATURES, clicking on QB2002 and seeing if there is a "repair" option?

Alternately (if you have the license code handy), try backing up the data files, uninstalling it then reinstalling it using the original CD?
