invalid area code won't let me view videos

I have an Acer Aspire 4520 Laptop that I bought new (Wal Mart) here in Missouri. It works fine except it won't play videos bought or rented here in Missouri. It says they have the wrong area code. Doesn't seem likely, as they play on my desktops, my DVD players, and the kids XBox 360. How do I change the area code on my laptop?

Oops I meant region code, not area code.

 

Open 'My Computer" right click one a blank area, hit "Properties" click "Hardware" click "Device Manager" then find your dvd drive in the list, right click go down to "Properties" click "Region Code" Being in the USA it should be region 1.
