Advice? Which is better? I know AC does a heck of a lot more but do I need it?

Using FF and being online a lot I need something to clean up the mess :-D

for strictly cleaning up browser history and such, well alot of programs do that well. If you're looking for the thing that those 2 do beyond that, well I guess it's personal taste. I know alot of people on these forums use ccleaner for cleaning temp folders and also clearing up registry issues, and I have yet to have a problem with ccleaner's registry tool. there's a little history with iobit's practices on some of their other software (nothing serious to worry about, just some poor business methods)

CCleaner; I avoid anything with the Iobit name. (google Iobit and Malwarebytes and you will read interesting posts from Nov. 2009)

I also avoid Iobit, now, just a personal preference. Don't like all in one solutions much. I am all for open source/freeware but try to keep it Euro-American. I use CCleaner for Windows and Bleachbit elsewhere. Neither will get rid of all the unneeded files, but they are a good place too start. With FF I don't save passwords and have it set to clear all history/data on exit. rolleyes

I've also used both but ccleaner is the default program for me and the machines I put it on, 0 problems with it.

Many times when I install it and run for the first time it will delete around a gig of garbage! May not get everything, but it is getting most of it!:wave:wave:wave

There is another freebie, mentioned by Fred langa. I've read his newsletters for years and when he mentions something he likes, I usually pay attention.
So I have installed PowerToolsLite as well
    http://www.macecraft.com/ptlite/
years before CCleaner ever existed, I ran jvpower tools while it was free. Macecraft bought it and made it a paid program.
All the lite program does is clean. Since that's exactly what I wish to do, the free version is fine.
I've found it finds things that CCleaner might not but it hasn't cleaned enough as to make the computer unbootable as some registry cleaners sometimes do.
I'd prefer to have a bit too much in the registry on a working computer rather than a vary clean unbootable computer. :-D
    Aggressive registry cleaners scare me.
