Thanks chaslang and dr.moriarty. So, for one whole year I've been thinking that I had paid for a good antivirus program to protect my computer. But, the Advanced SystemCare has an antivirus scan and update for scanning viruses or so I thought. What confuses me is that it also has IObit Malware Fighter trial version that comes with it plus host of other stuffs to clean the computer. After the trial period I kept getting notices telling me to upgrade to paid version for full protection, which I thought I had already paid for. Also, from this forum I learnt that I'm not supposed to install two active anti-virus programs. So, that's why I was confused as to why ASC and IObit would ask me to do that, after all aren't they the same company?

Anyway, I'd take your advice and go for the free version. But do they have free version also for my android phone?

Also, do I have to uninstall all the ASC & IObit programs as I find some of their cleaning and defragmentation programs quite useful to help my computer run faster. Thanks again for your advice.

BTW, I'm using Win 10. Also, do I install all the recommended free version protections as below?

    Zemana AntiMalware Free
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
    SpywareBlaster 5.5
    CryptoPrevent 7.4.21
Install one anti-virus such as Comodo Internet Security or
Avast! Free Edition or Avira Free Antivirus

Yes, ASC and Malware Fighter are from the same company, IOBIT. ASC is a suite of utility programs. Apparently Malware Fighter isn't part of that suite, but you were given a free trial period to use it. To continue using it, you need to pay more money, on top of what you paid for the suite. Malware Fighter isn't anti-virus program, and it won't conflict with an AV program, when running.

A more frugal approach is to use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (freeware) and periodically scan your system, since it doesn't continuously run realtime. You can do this with Zemana (free version) as well. Another one I would consider in this group is Spybot-Search & Destroy

SpywareBlaster and CryptoPrevent are relative small background programs that are geared for specific types of exploits. You should install all of these. I would add to this group Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit

Since you are using Win10, you already have an AV program, Windows Defender, which runs realtime. Should you change to another AV, make sure Defender gets turned off with the new install of another AV. I would add to the AV suggestions BitDefender Free

Soz, can't help with the android. GL:)

One real time third-party AV program only - choose just one from the three you list.

    Crypto Prevent is excellent.

Malwarebytes in its free version, kept up to date and used for periodic scanning.

SpywareBlaster free kept up to date is good for immunizing browsers.

Personally I'm not keen on any IoBit program apart from its Uninstaller. But if you keep ASC then keep in free version only, NO AV element, and use it carefully.
If your system has an SSD drive you don't need to defrag it.

As well as the above, bear in mind that surfing and email behaviour is at least as important as security software. Clicking on links and opening spam emails may infect your system whatever security you have.

    ANDROID:
Look on GOOGLE PLAY for Malwarebytes or numerous others including Comodo, for your Android device.

Thanks StruldBrug, MaxTurner and Eldon for all the good advice and instruction. Funny, before I planned to renew my subscription with ACS I emailed them before posting my questions here but to-date I have yet to receive any response from them except an automated reply stating they have received my email and that their support staff is currently reviewing it. Today my subscription has just expired so the instruction and links you guys give me here just came in time to help me get my computer protected. Here's what I did:

    1. I uninstalled the ACS-paid version (312.10 MB) and go with the free version (ACS-10, 164.86 MB) with Chrome extension for IObit Surfing Protection & Ads Removal.

    2. I uninstalled Driver Booster (69.59 MB) that came with the ACS paid version. The free version includes the Driver Booster.

    3. I kept the Smart Defrag 5 because I'm not sure my notebook computer has the SSD you spoke about. I looked up the spec, it stated 1024MB DDR2 SDRAM (1 DIMM) -- is it the same?

    4. I downloaded and installed Comodo (supposedly free version) but it says "Comodo Internet Security Premium. I didn't pay for it. As I understand, it comes with anti-virus and anti-malware programs. But does it include firewall?

    5. I downloaded and installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

    6. I downloaded and installed Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit.

    7. I downloaded and installed Spywareblaster.

    8. I downloaded and installed CryptoPrevent and chose the default protection and whitelisted all currently installed programs.

I found a program I installed long ago: McAfeeWebAdvisor (26.46 MB). Do you think I still need that or it's redundant?

So far so good. Computer seems to run faster than before. Do you guys think I have all I need for now? Thanks alot for the help!!!

No that's not the HD. For this we'd need the brand name and full model number of your system, or you can scan with Speccy that will show if you have a SSD hard drive.

Yes CIS Premium is freeware unless you choose the 'pro' paid version.
CIS includes AV/Malware, and a good Firewall.

You don't need that with all the other software.

McAfeeWebAdvisor is only useful for Internet Explorer. You can always right click on downloaded programs and scan with MBytes and probably Comodo before you run them for install. Windows should warn you with a security alert if your realtime AV isn't running. So, McAfee serves no real purpose.

If it's the original drive then it's in all probability not an SSD. The 1 GB DDR2 RAM is the giveaway.

The brand & model number is HP Mini 110-1012NR. As Eldon suggested, I don;t think it's SSD hard drive. BTW, do you think i can uninstall some pre-installed Windows programs that I don;t ever use? For instance the following:

    Xbox
    Xbox identity provider
    Money
    Sports
    Sway (no idea what's that)
    MS Soltaire Collection
    Grove Music
    Get Office
    Skype Preview

Also, I'm thinking of uninstalling Chrome since it often gets into unresponsive mood and very slow. The program also takes up large memory space. I'll just use IE or MS Edge. What do you think?

The original HD crashed. I sent to the computer shop to put in a new HD in 2012.

I know this is a late arrival into the thread already solved. However, I just wanted to point out that Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit is now included in the base version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program as of version 3.0. However, after the premium trial, you lose Anti-Exploit and 4 other features unless you pay.

    It is still worthwhile info.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I realize it when I install the program. However, after the trial period I still get notification that my browser is protected by Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit whenever I open my Chrome browser. I checked the program itself and it says it's running.

Did you install MB and MB Anti-exploit as two separate programs? Or did you install the new MB version 3 with both processes?

Yes, I did. I followed the instruction of the previous posts and clicked on the links individually to download and install the BM and MB Anti-Exploit separately per the links.

If they were the freeware versions, and they offered you a premium trial which you accepted, the real-time element will last as long as the trial. The new combined version 3 trial lasts 14 days.

When installed as the Free version, the ability to scan for rootkits is available, that might mean that rootkit scanning will still be available after the Trial period ends, otherwise a full uninstall, reboot and reinstall as the Free version will be required.

Unless someone has the free time to check the MBam forum for details, I guess we'll need to wait a while for confirmation either way.
