    To find an ip address do the following:

    Start -> Run -> cmd.exe

    type-> ping nameofsite.com

    it will say the following

    Pinging yahoo.com [216.109.112.135] with 32 bytes of data:

    And that is the ip address

    start->run-> type CMD and hit enter

    at prompt type
    PING www.sitenamehere.com

    the first line in the result will look like this (I pinged majorgeeks.com)

    Pinging www.majorgeeks.com [67.19.72.100] with 32 bytes of data

    the number in the [ ] is the IP address.

    Damn, sagem beat me by a nipple.

    Or you could try www.samspade.org (not .com!). Tells you lots of helpful stuff about a website.

    thanks to all that responded. this is a wonderful forum. I hope that someday I may contribute something to it instead of just getting help for myself
