I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I went to,auditmycomputer.com to do a check on my firewall(zonealarm) to check the ports. The site was able to get my internal IP address.I was instructed that this is a bad thing and that an internal IP address should be hidden. Is this true and if it is how do I hide the internal address? Thanks

Also that is a crap website that you should not access anyway. They try to hijack your home page and show lots of popups.

    Thanks Chaslang,

I use Zone alarm and have everything set at high, not sure what else I can do.

I always use the info off your Malware sticky and my computer is pretty clean, I just ran Kaspersky, and Panda online scans, spysweeper,AVG,They show that everything is clean.
Anymore info on the firewall confiquring would be appreciated// Thanks

Did you really mean you went to auditmycomputer.com or did you mean www.auditmypc.com

Anyone can get your outside IP address. I could even tell you what IP address you are coming here with. If you use a router and firewall, they will not get your internal IP addess. For example: Suppose you are a cable subscriber and your thus have a cable modem. Now Add a rouer and a firewall in your PC too. They can still get your IP address as provided by the cable company. It is in every single packet sent by your PC. It is part of the IP protocol. But they cannot get behind your router and thru your firewall unless you have ports open.

When I took the firewall test at www.auditmypc.com, the test came back that they got my internal IP and my outside IP.I know the outside is no big deal but the audit said it wasn't good that the test revealed my internal IP.
I'm not to sure on this. What do you think?

How do you connect to the internet (dial-up, cable, DSL, etc)?
    Do you use a router?

Then you are probably just directly seeing your IP Address as assigned from your ISP. It is your external IP and your internal address if you do not have a router. A firewall cannot do anything about this.

You probably have a PPPoE or PPPoA connection to your ISP. Or maybe it is just a bridged connection thru your DSL modem. Thus you just get an IP address from your ISP's DHCP server.
