Running ubuntu 9.04. Installed iplayer. Will not run properly and internet connection very flaky since install. Cannot uninstall. Does not appear in list of programs/applications. I cannot even delete the files. Also I'm new to this OS so any responses in simple language please!

i live in the uk and watch things with iplayer - but i watch it via flash player in mandriva linux,

so if you watch bbc through the web site then it will be flash player,
best bet is upgrade your flash player and the plugin,

    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

you will need the apt package,

i found when i upgraded my flash that for the player to work properly i had to remove the earlier flash player,

oh - make sure the flashplayer-plugin and flash-player-plugin are the same builds (i don't know whether its the same with ubuntu - but different builds conflict in mandriva)
