ipod - is it possible to connect to other ipods?????

did i really hear this correctly? is it true that you can/will be able to buy a cable that will connect your ipod to a friends and then send music/files to each other??????

This is especially a useful accessory (actually, essential) to connect two ipods together, something that I don't do very often, but found it handy to transfer files directy from other ipods into mine.

One of the iPods must have iPodLinux (ipodlinux.sourceforge.net) installed, with the SBP2 module inserted into the kernel. The other one should be in disk mode. Then, the other iPod can be browsed using the prompt, and it is possible to copy files. Its slow, buggy, and a huge pain to get to work, but it gets the job done when there's no computer around.

I wonder why Apple dosn't add this feature into its official firmware? It would be awesome to be able to send files between iPods. If its transfering songs they're concerned about, then they could easily just hide the iPod_control directory (where all the prefs and music is stored) like they do on Mac OS finder.
