Neither, I have no desire to watch videos on a tiny screen. A normal 1-2 GB MP3 player is sufficient for me

I have an Ipod, and I love it for music and videos on the go, but it all comes down to user preference really. Either way, both do the same exact thing, with slight differences.

I have a shall we say, lesser known brand.
    1GB memory for $59.
It works just fine with WMP and XP file system.
No video but does display track info.

I bought an ipod that was big enough that had video - no other option. Don't use the video but when I have 45gb worth of music there's not much else I could do!

Plus I'm an Apple whore ;)

While I would love a Zune, I'd have to vote iPod as I have an iPod Touch and I'm posting this reply via it on wireless ,Safari surfing is neat :)

Neither, really. I have an iPod someone gave me months ago. It just sits there, next to the P.C. Full of music, but never used. If I want to listen to music or watch videos, I'll use the P.C.

As you may have ascertained, I'm not big on walking around with multi-media gizmos attached to my noggin, either.

You bought another M$ branded peice of hardware... otherwise known as the toshiba gigabeat. actually not bad units. I have one of the older gigabeats... still works and has great battery life. only problem I have is that even on long car trips there is no reason to carry 30GB of music... That's why I have a car stereo with a USB port and a 4GB thumbdrive... so much easier and I can use the remote to navigate.

Funny you should mention that Lanfear as my car has Bluetooth and MP3 port built in, in the form of Windows Mobile control, so I now just pop my music for car on USB pens, sooo much more easy to carry than CDs.

Not tried my iPod in it yet, but specs say it works ok.

I'm never in a position to use any type of portable mp3 player.

My car has a built in mp3 player.
My cd/dvd changer has one built in.
My service provider for tv has music.
    My computer has music.
The internet via winamp has decent music.

I see no point in getting one.

I'm not a fan of iPod, First thing I had to do is upgrade my neices OS to XP when she got a 40 Gig unit when they first came out several Christmas's ago, then I had to fix her computer when it popped a fuse in her motherboard because they insist on drawing the power for a hard drive through the USB port. We wound up getting an externally powered hub. Then there is the occasional glitch because her iTune software doesn't update correctly every time, and then there is the DRM problems. My experience is it is a pain in the posterior.

My boys MP3 player, and later his MP4 player, have been much more computer friendly. The first uses a 1 Gig SD card, the second can use up to 4 Gig SD. They use several generic software programs, you aren't locked down to one version that if they decide to beta test on your machine you are screwed for the duration. They also double as jump drives. If the files are in formats that the machine can play they play them.

Don't know anything about Zune, never had a chance to look at one.

The Zune is the same. A friend has one. Ipods are much better now in that respect, there are a dozen 3rd party apps for it and most media players have support also, not just iTunes. Zune is currently limited to what MS offers. Given time, it will change just like the ipod situation, but there is a long way to go.
