ipod touch turns off

I rarely browse the internet on my ipod touch
I use it for Facetime and to play chess.com

I had just made a move and I turned it off and set on my desk, as i have a zillion times

now it won't turn on.......

It wasnt close to being out of power, but I still hooked it up to the charger....nothing

hooked it to my computer..nothing

what happened? any ideas?

 

I still have no freakin' idea wth happened, but I hit the on and "home" buttons and it came back on, exactly how it was before, as if it was sleeping
