IRC Server

I kind of miss the chat box were people hanged out in.

I think it would be nice if there was a IRC were people hanged out in but doesn't have to be related to major geeks.

I don't want to bring up issues form the past with the chatbox as most of you knew what happened.

 

So what's wrong with the lounge you can chat just as well here,or pm someone and if you really want privacy than IM them and do a chat there. The lounge to me is a great place to chat in and when I want to talk to someone on a P2P than I just PM them.What is so different about this "Chat" or"IRC" that you are talking about to the lounge?

 

I have seen those chat boxes, but not on here (thankfully!) and I like to stay away from them.. anything you type there, is NOT private.. Oh, I know this is all searchable too, BUT, where is the line?

I have seen so many people abuse the chat boxes, so I tend to stay away. If I want to read profanity, I can just go into town, and hear all I want.... I don't want to read it on a public board....

Besides, that is so darn hard to moderate. Our moderators would get no rest, as they would have to constantly be on to remove more than they leave on... I think they have enough to deal with as it is...

I love IRC, use it everyday... I have a chan with just a small group of good people.. its nice to be able to chat in real-time.

and yes... The Lounge is good too

 

When we had the chatbox on here it was a fun thing for a long time but it started to get a bit out of hand and MA decided that it was time to call a halt, not only for that but the resources needed to keep it going were not feasible.

In all there were very few members who used it on a regular basis so it just past into memory.
