irfanview won't open

I downloaded irfanview, but when I went to install it it sez, ivew427_setup.exe is not a valid win32 application. What is this??? There is xp on this computer. Why won't it work?

 

Did you download IrfanView 4.27 from http://majorgeeks.com/IrfanView_d4253.html

or did you download it from somewhere else?

I just now downloaded it (from MG) and installed and ran it with no problems.

XP Pro SP3.

Yes that's where I got it.

 

Sorry I can't help further, except to suggest un-install, download again and re-install. It is amazing how many times that solves problems.

It won't even install, THAT's the problem. I've downloaded again a few times and still won't work.

Thanks plodr. When I checked out some of the Google links I posted in an earlier answer, they seemed to point to a possibly corrupt Registry.

The advertisements on the RHS of the Google answer promise all sorts of miracle cures. :-D

If I was the OP I would do a FULL Backup before advancing too much further.

Try an alternate mirror. MG's has a choice of three.

Also seen someone advise to clean your browser temp files and cache and to disable accelerators and download managers before downloading again.
