IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Error When Using Ashampoo Burning Studio

Whenever I use Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 (free version 6.80_4312), my computer shuts down and the notorious "Blue Screen of Death" pops up with the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL errorwhen the program is closing out the session. It doesn't matter if I'm burning a CD or DVD, data or music. The burned disc reads fine, meaning all the data is intact and will load when inserted into the drive, but this blue screen error is really becoming a concern. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and offer a solution to fix it??

Thanks. Can you, well, dumb it down a little, maybe give me a step-by-step guide so I don't do something wrong and completely destroy my system? And if I remove Ashampoo (which I really like; it's easy to use) and use a different program, do you think it will solve the problem?

I wish I could but this is rarely a simple fix. Making matters worse, Ashampoo 6 is an older free version meaning you use it at your own risk and no support is available. I can give you some of the easier suggestions that I would try one at a time and see if it works:

1: You can uninstall the program, reboot and install it again.
2: You can upgrade your motherboard drivers (will need your computer brand and model for this)
3: Disable antivirus or other security software while using Ashampoo 6.

From here it gets more difficult and you might need help:
1: Reboot, tap f8 and when you get to the user prompt screen choose "last known good configuration".
2: Go into BIOS and disable memory caching of the BIOS. This is not for amatuers. If you do not know what a BIOS is, or how to get into it, then don't do this.

Finally you can try another buring software if nothing above has worked OR you can just see if one of these works:

Okay. I will definitely uninstall Ashampoo and try a different burning software. Having no product support is not a good thing!! Disabling security software make sme nervous, so won't do that. Even though I consider myself somewhat computer-savvy, I'm not an expert and would probably get myself into even MORE trouble trying to fix something. Don't really know much about BIOS, except that is has something to do with ROM, so that option is out. Let's go with upgrading motherboard drivers. I did a search for the error before posting here and most of the results mentioned drivers.

My computer is a Compaq Presario V5000, running Windows XP. I have the following security/maintenance programs installed:
    1. Microsoft Security Essentials Version 2.1.1116.0
    2. SuperAntiVirus Free Edition Version 5.0.1144
    3. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free Edition Version 1.60.1.1000
    4. CCleaner Version 3.15.1643
    5. Revo Uninstaller Version 1.93

I also use Stinger and downloaded the newest version (10.2.0.505) yesterday.

Avon is about 90 minutes from Syracuse so we're practically neighbors! No problem downloading/installing the file. Haven't tried reinstalling AShampoo. May go ith one of the CD/DVD burning programs you suggested. BTW Rochester is LEADING in the Snowfall Derby this year!! LOL

My wifes couisin owns that Golden Snowball site or whatever it is :) Sounds good, I use Burn Aware myself. Another possible issue is older programs tend to play well with software newer than themselves, it could be that simple!
