    Hi,

I've just been going nuts trying to figure this out but, I'm not sure what the issue is...how is it I can basically download files and whatever at normal speed (Avg around 900kbps - 1.5mbps) but when it comes to streaming videos...I either get stuck buffering non stop or the video quality is extremely crappy.

I've been all over Comcast about this...they don't seem to think it's their end, I can't see where it's at on my end, but it might be...

I can't watch any place that streams video...esp YouTube, but I can download a huge file pretty fast...I don't get it. I have Flash installed, it's updated, i've tried to reinstall it, nothing. :hammer

Post your OS and how much RAM you have installed.

What is your download speed? I don't know what country you are in but here in the U.S. I use www.speakeasy.net to test my speeds. But it is different for other countries.

Are your wireless? If so, what are the specs on your router?

If you boot in safe mode with networking, any improvement? :wave:wave

Also, check the settings on your media player. Often you can control the bandwidth and/or the download speeds for streaming media. For example, RealPlayer gives multiple options for Playback Settings and Downloading + Recording --- including buffering options. Go to Tools and Preferences and try some different settings.

My speed is rated at 12MB

Download Speed: 8411 kbps (1051.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 3261 kbps (407.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

    From Speakeasy.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with 4 GB of ram, and I'm in the US, GA. I've done it in safe mode with networking, nothing is better.

I'm directly connected to the modem, no router, or wireless.

Plenty of speed, plenty of resources.

What anti virus and other security software?

I have an almost identical setup as you, but with no problems on streaming video. I use Winpatrol from HERE, to manage and minimize my auto run programs.

I have only two items showing in my startup tab, AVG and Winpatrol.

If you have a lot more than that, one or more of the autoruns could be causing this problem. Give that a try. :wave:wave
