I have an updated version of AVG but every site I visit I get the message Resident Shield Alert. Accessed information. Threat found (tracking cookie) (Add to acceptions) (Go to file) or (ignore) What do I do to keep from getting this message on every page I visit? Thanks!

You running the free one? Open AVG and go to tools/ advanced and untick resident shield notifications, that may help but I have everything at default settings and have never seen that behaviour. There's got to be more going on in there.:confused

Click add to exceptions so you do not get alerts on tracking cookies from the sites you visit frequently. If it is on a site that you do not visit frequently, you can select ignore. I suspect this wuill be a once a done ignore. (I don't run AVG so I don't know).

I'd consider this as pretty dangerous move.

Tracking cookies are more, or less harmless (just text files), so most security programs don't even bother with them.

In AVG, you can set an exception for tracking cookies...

    Resident Shield settings
    • open AVG User Interface
    • double-click on the AVG Resident Shield component
    • UN-check the "Scan for Tracking Cookies" option
    • press "Save changes" button
