   Hi,
   I would like to wipe unused files on my pc, I have used bc wipe in the past and wonder if there are better programs available as mine is fairly old?

   Nope seems as if that BCWipe can still clear the files you may need clearing securely.
   
   Other options are, if you wish to try them out;
   
   CCleaner ( it offers the option in Options > Settings for secure wiping to both DOD and NSA wipe patterns for the files that it clears out )
   
   Eraser
   
   these are both free, CCleaner out of the two listed above IMO offers the best options in temp/internet secure file deletion.
