Is it Safe To Replace My MBR / Track 0?

I recently installed Windows Recovery Console which I believe altered the MBR on my system. Since it obviously gave the option to boot from either WRC or WinXP when I'd turn my pc on. I uninstalled WRC and it no longer asked me to choose either WRC. My pc simply returned to the way it was and booted up from WinXP right away. Just to be on the safe side I'd like to restore my MBR.

I have a backup of my MBR which I made long ago using Acronis True Image Software. I was wondering if it would be alright for me to restore the MBR/Track 0 of I have backed up. Or if doing so would erase all the data on my hdd. My hdd is partitioned into two halves. One for the OS and one for data.

Please let me know if I will run into any problems by restoring my MBR/Track 0.
[ie: anti virus errors, issues, data erasing, etc]

    I've never done it before.

    Thanks

Why do you want to restore MBR? Either if it has been altered or not, your system is working fine, and it is not a rogue or an unknown piece of software that you have installed/uninstalled (i.e. Windows Recovery Console), to make you suspicious of what it has done. I'd say if it is not broken, don't try to fix it :)
